My name is Sara Pereira, I am a licensed massage therapist specializing in, but not limited to pre and post-natal massage, as well as a certified placenta encapsulation specialist and a soon-to-be certified doula. My goal in my work is to bring relaxation and comfort to women in all stages of their pregnancy as well as help them recover from labor and delivery in the most efficient and effective way I believe to be possible, through the ingestion of her own dehydrated and encapsulated placenta.

I first learned about placenta encapsulation while studying Traditional Chinese Medicine. I remember being fascinated by the powers that the placenta holds and telling myself, “I will do this when I have a baby someday.”

When a good friend of mine told me she was pregnant, we got on the subject of the placenta. I told her about the process of dehydrating the placenta and turning it into pills. She was very open minded about it and excited for me to prepare it for her. It was such a great success and my friend benefited so much from her own placenta that I began to inform and offer this service to as many women as possible.

A very big part of my massage practice is working with pregnant women. It brings me such joy to know that I am a conduit in helping relieve pain and stress and help relax a woman who is about to bring life into this world. And there is nothing like finally meeting the little one that I massaged while in mommy’s tummy. I have the same joy when I prepare a new mother’s placenta.

Knowing that I am not only helping women who have just given birth have an easier recovery time, helping them to beat those “baby blues” and so much more, but I am also helping that beautiful child that just entered into this world.

When a new mother is happy, healthy and fulfilled, it doesn’t just have an impact on her, it has an impact on the new baby, the family and friends around her and I believe society as a whole. These little ones really are our future and I am dedicated to helping them get the best start they possibly can, through the gift of their very own placenta.

Professional Background:

I have been practicing the art of bodywork since 1999. In my sessions with clients, I believe to act as a conduit, allowing for the natural healing process to unfold.

My passion and dedication to the healing arts is expressed in my continual educational pursuits. I have trained at California College of Physical Arts, the Massage School of Santa Monica, Emperor’s College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as the Milne Institute.

In 2001, I spent three months in Portugal in an intensive training program in Integrative Bodywork with Green Mountain Institute and have been working with private clients since 2000.

I also look forward to my future training with the Milne Institute, specializing in infant craniosacral therapy.

Although choosing to no longer be in affiliation with PBi, in 2008 I was trained and became a Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist through Placenta Benefits.

In November of 2009, I attended Ana Paula Markel’s DONA International Certified Doula Training at the Bini Birth Loft. Wanting originally only to attend for the training experience, I felt the calling and will soon be offering doula services!

Children certainly are our future and the more of these children who have happy and present mothers, the better it will be for the whole.
